The Olefins Extraction System

A novel method for parallel extraction of plasticizers and stabilisers from polyolefins for HPLC, GC and TLC analysis. Samples of plastics in small dissolution reaction vessels have various solvents and reagents added to them. The reaction vessels are heated up to 190°C and mixed at 300rpm. An automated reflux lid reduces evaporation. After dissolution further reagent is added and an aliquot is removed from the gelatinous precipitation/solvent mixture through a PTFE frit. The aliquot is dispensed through a 0.45um filter, into GC vials.

Main Features

  • Reflux shaking at 190°C +/-2°C and 300 rpm +/-1rpm

  • Liquid handling accuracies better than 0.5% CV
  • 0.45um post-filtration and 100um pre-filtration
  • Prepared sample is collected in GC vials
