Capping and De-capping modules
A large number of Labman's systems require some capping or de-capping of vials or tubes. Most systems use screw top vials, push in bungs or crimps. For processes where the vial and cap are not united at the start of the process Labman usually use a bowl feeder for storing and delivering caps or tubes to the capping unit.Screw top capping and decapping
Capping modules for screw top vials have been produced for vials ranging from 1.4ml Micronic vials to 100ml pots. Labman normally uses a small servomotor with torque feedback which allows caps to be tightened to a specific torque. Using a servo-motor with torque feedback also gives a positive indication that the cap has been tightened successfully.Push on/pull off caps
Some more specialised caps are designed to push on and pull off such as syringe caps and test tube bungs. A number of approaches have been successfully used by Labman to automate this process.Crimps
Crimping is normally limited to GCMS vial preparation but other vial types have been used.
