Precipitate Detection and Vortexer System

Labman have now compeleted another custom system based on the detection of particles of sample in a solution (a requirement for our customer in Italy). We have developed a number of systems based around scanning tubes and vials and detecting how well dissolved and mixed a sample is.

This system checks Micronic and Matrix tubes for clarity (i.e. whether you can "see" through the sample). This is performed by moving a specific sensor down the length of each tube (the mechanism is shown in the above photo) and recording the results. A screenshot of the result is shown below for a typical tube. This indicates the precipitate levels, and any settling of sample at the bottom of the tubes. We can also gauge the cap, the tube width, the location of the tube bottom etc.
Samples can be vortexed in the Micronic blocks to mix the sample/solutions and measurements can be retaken to indicate an improvement in the precipitate levels.
This technology can be applied to water analysis (e.g. turbidity, dirt detection, layering), drug dissolving (e.g. dissolution and drug degradation) and for showing how well vortexing and centrifugation is working.
