Apprenticeships.

As an apprentice at Labman, you will be entrusted with responsibility, expected to take charge of your work and encouraged to take a wider interest in the operation of the company as a whole. Apprentices can even be given project leader status on new, live jobs, and will take charge of large budgets for real clients.

Don’t worry though, you won’t be thrown in at the deep end, and expected to fend for yourself – our senior engineers will provide you with mentoring and guidance in every area of the business to give you a solid grasp and understanding of Labman and the work you’ll be doing.

We work with Middlesbrough College to provide training in a wide range of skills, from electrical engineering, to design and manufacture. These apprenticeships will provide you with a very strong vocational foundation, and will develop and hone the skills required to catapult you into your chosen field with confidence. Labman also has an extremely high rate of retention – many of our past apprentices are now senior project leaders!

Placements.

Working at Labman gives you a head start in the world of engineering. Our senior engineers will provide you with mentoring and guidance in every area of the business to give you a solid grasp and understanding of Labman and the work you’ll be doing. You will be expected to learn quickly and to utilise your engineering creativity and knowledge to help produce the next innovative Labman system.

A placement at Labman will provide you with a very strong vocational foundation, and will develop and hone the skills required to catapult you into your chosen field with confidence. Labman also has an extremely high rate of retention – many of those who have taken placement years at Labman remain with the company and some are now senior project leaders.

Graduate Training Scheme – Leadership Fast Track

Graduate Project Leaders are accountable for technical work, whether they’re managing groups of people or projects. The graduate should be confident in electrical/electronic engineering, software engineering or mechanical engineering. Regardless of the graduates chosen discipline, they will be exposed to all aspects of the business and are encouraged to take a hands-on approach in the initial phases. They will play a key role in projects and are expected to be proficient in research, design, planning, system testing, implementation and project control.

Early on the graduate will be given their own project to manage, from start to finish. The graduate will be supported and mentored though-out the scheme by a Senior Manager, but the graduate will have freedom to work autonomously. The graduate will also work as part of project teams and will be invited and encouraged to participate fully as team member. As the graduate progresses they will be given increased levels of responsibility and the graduate is expected to become a Senior Project Leader within two years. Graduates are expected to work towards gaining Chartered status and the scheme will offer the student an opportunity to further their work based evidence.

Entry Requirements:
The graduate must have a good engineering degree in a relevant discipline. Labman expect the graduate to have an intrinsic interest and intuitive understanding of engineering, underpinned by academic theoretical knowledge base. Understanding engineering from first principles and first-hand knowledge, as well as learned engineering subject matter, is a must. The candidate must be of a get-up-and-go attitude showing perseverance in the face of difficulty. The graduate must have a good A-Level in maths and preferably another science A-Level.

Salary:
£20,000 to £26,500 with £2,000 paid immediately on acceptance of a position (for students currently in study only). The pay scale is expected to increase quickly in line with responsibility.

Electro-Mechanical Engineer

Due to increasing demand for automated systems, Labman is looking to hire an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional electro-mechanical engineer to design and create bespoke automated systems for our clients across the globe. The successful candidate will produce electro-mechanical designs and modifications by identifying key project objectives and issues. The will also research and develop electro-mechanical techniques and approaches, verify and validate designs, and support project implementation.

Software Engineer

Due to continued growth Labman are seeking to add a new software engineer to the existing team. The job will be challenging and dynamic with opportunities to work with a range of technologies and third party hardware.The successful candidate is expected to work within the Labman ISO9001 framework developing software to a strict set of coding conventions. Field Support Engineer

Due to the increasing demand for automated robotic systems, Labman is looking to hire an enthusiastic, self-motivated and professional Field Support Engineer to install, maintain, repair and upgrade bespoke automated robotic systems for our clients across the world. The successful candidate will support our clients in sustaining system uptime by proactively and reactively maintaining the systems. They will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of clients and will be the primary contact point for supporting the operation of the clients systems after warranty.
